6 | Observing the facts | Assignment #6 It’s hard, just describing what you are seeing.Observe a colleague sitting in front of you. Describe only factual things you see in his/her behavior. Think of:- Facial expression – Posture – Intonation – Use of voice – Text | – |
7 | Observing and interpreting | Assignment #7 Without noticing, you constantly interpret the behavior of others. 10 | Effect | Assignment #10 Giving feedback is always okay. Better once too often than too little. Look at the effect of someone’s behavior on your common interests.- With your colleague, have a look at the list of common interests on the right. – Pick an item you’re both satisfied with, or one that needs improvement. – When had you both have to deal with this? Describe the behaviour of your colleague in this situation. – Find out why this behavior was helpful or not. 11 | Practicing with Effect | Assignment #11 Take 15 minutes to practice giving feedback. Invite your colleague from Assignment #10 for this one.Tips: – Start with Effect, followed by Emotion and Event. – Keep it interactive. Ask questions to check, like ‘do you recognize this?’ or ‘does this make sense to you?’ – Keep Engagement open-ended. Talk about it. Ask your colleague for suggestions. – Evaluate the conversation together. What did work and what did not? | |

Still know SMART?Pick a task that has been delegated to you during a recent meeting.
